Solutions for prop firms

Market data for prop trading firms and evaluation platforms

FinaQuotes supplies market data for prop trading firms and evaluation platforms: one feed that covers forex, metals, indices, commodities, stocks, crypto and bonds, with OHLC candles built the same way for every class. Prop firms use it to show prices in their platform and dashboards, check rules against stable candles and pull history for reviews and backtests. We provide data only, not liquidity or execution.

What a prop firm needs from market data

An evaluation is only as fair as the prices it is measured against. That puts a few specific demands on the data.

  • Many instruments, several classes

Traders expect forex majors next to gold, index CFDs, large-cap stocks and crypto. One feed covers all of them, so you do not run a separate integration per class. See coverage.

  • Stable candles for evaluation

Daily loss limits and drawdown rules are checked against candles. Candles are built from a 1m base and aggregated the same way for every class, so a high or low does not depend on which screen a trader looks at.

  • One clock

All candles and timestamps are in UTC, so the daily boundary for a loss limit is defined once. Stock candles follow the hours of the listing exchange, daylight saving included.

  • History for reviews and backtests

Years of daily history and months of intraday over REST: enough to review a challenge, settle a dispute over a chart, or test a rule change against past sessions.

  • Keys per team and environment

Separate HMAC keys for the trading platform, the dashboard and the research team, so one can be rotated or revoked without touching the others.

  • Delays you can explain

Every class is real time except international stocks, which come with a delay of about 15 minutes. That is stated in the catalog, so your rules can account for it.

What FinaQuotes covers and what stays with you

What we provide

  • Real-time quotes: two-sided bid/ask on forex, spot metals and US stocks; last price on crypto, indices, commodities and bonds.
  • OHLC candles in nine timeframes, 1m to 1MN.
  • Candle history, the instrument catalog and logos over REST.
  • Separate keys per environment or team.
  • Monitoring of every instrument and automatic source fallback.

What stays on your side

  • Liquidity, execution and order routing.
  • Risk rules, trader accounts and payouts.
  • The evaluation logic itself: targets, limits and scoring.
  • Investment advice or signals for traders.

Our prices are market data for display, charting and rule checks. They are not executable quotes, and FinaQuotes is never a counterparty to your traders.

Candle history by timeframe

History comes from the same REST API as the instrument catalog. Depth is approximate and depends on the timeframe.

Timeframe Typical depthTypical use
1D, 1W, 1MN Several yearsLong backtests, monthly and quarterly reviews
1H, 4H About two yearsStrategy reviews and rule changes
5m, 15m, 30m About 60 daysRecent challenges and session checks
1m Up to 180 daysRule checks and dispute review

Stock candles exist only during the trading hours of the listing exchange. More on depth and formats on the historical data page.

Why candle consistency matters in evaluations

A trader who fails a challenge on a daily loss limit will look at the chart. If the low on your dashboard differs from the low in the platform, the conversation is no longer about the trade but about whose numbers are right.

The simplest way to avoid that is to feed every surface from one source. The platform, the trader dashboard and the review tooling read the same ticks and the same candles, built once on our side from a 1m base, in UTC. When one of our upstream sources fails, the feed switches to another automatically and the candle series continues without a change on your side.

We also watch every instrument for silence. If a symbol stops updating during its trading hours, we get an alert before the gap turns into a support ticket. Details are on the reliability page.

Limits and keys

The WebSocket stream has no per-message billing: you subscribe to the instruments in your set and receive ticks as they arrive. REST has reasonable per-IP limits, 120 requests per minute by default, which covers chart loads and catalog refreshes for a typical platform.

If your backtests or dashboards need a different request profile, mention it in the request so we can plan the setup around it. Keys are issued per team or environment and can be rotated independently. How keys and access work is described on the security page.

How the connection works

We reply to requests within one business day.

  1. Request

Tell us about your platform, the asset classes you offer traders and where prices need to appear: platform, dashboards, website.

  2. Instrument set and environments

We agree the instrument list and issue keys per environment: the trading platform, the trader dashboard, the research team.

  3. Test access

Your team connects staging, checks prices, candles and history against your evaluation rules, and tests reconnects using the documentation.

  4. Production

Production keys go live and we monitor every instrument. Changes to the set or new environments go through the same contact.

Questions prop firms ask

Can one feed serve both the trading platform and the evaluation dashboards?

Yes, and that is the main reason to use one feed. The platform and the dashboards read the same prices and candles, so the numbers traders see always agree. Each surface gets its own keys.

How much history is available for backtests?

Years of daily history and months of intraday. Daily candles go back several years, hourly about two years, 5m to 30m about 60 days and 1m up to 180 days. See the historical data page.

Are candles built the same way for every asset class?

Yes. Every class starts from 1m candles, higher timeframes are aggregated from them, and all times are UTC. The only difference is stocks, whose candles exist during the trading hours of the listing exchange.

How is the feed priced for a prop firm?

By the set you take: asset classes, instruments and the number of connections. There is no public price list and no per-message billing on the stream. We reply to requests within one business day; see pricing for the factors.
