Commodities market data feed: near real-time prices and candles

The FinaQuotes commodities feed delivers energy and agricultural commodities as tracked instruments, each priced by its last trade and streamed during the hours of its underlying market. Updates arrive in near real time, and every instrument has OHLC candles on nine timeframes in UTC. It serves brokers, prop firms, trading platforms and financial websites that show commodities next to other markets.

What is covered

The commodities set covers the two groups most sites and platforms show: energy and agriculture. Each commodity is delivered as a tracked instrument: an exchange-traded symbol that follows the price of its market and is handled like any other symbol in the feed, with a last price and candles.

Precious metals have their own page: see metals. The current commodities list is on the instruments page and over REST; the coverage overview shows the full picture.

  • Energy commodities as tracked instruments
  • Agricultural commodities as tracked instruments
  • The same symbol, tick and candle format as every other class

Quote format

Commodities are exchange-traded, so each tick carries a single last price. The tick structure is the same as for every other class: both price fields are filled with the same value, bid equals ask equals last, and the size field is zero. If your product needs a spread, apply it on your side.

Timestamps are in UTC milliseconds. Message details and client examples are in the feed documentation.

Sessions and hours

Each commodity streams during the hours of its underlying market, and those hours differ between energy and agricultural products. Outside the session no new ticks are sent; a subscription still returns the last known price as a snapshot.

We describe commodities as near real time. Most updates reach you sub-second after we receive them, but some instruments carry the delay that applies on their exchange, and that delay is passed through rather than hidden.

Candles and history

Every commodity has OHLC candles on nine timeframes, from 1m to 1MN. The base series is one minute and higher timeframes are aggregated from it. All bars are in UTC, so daily candles line up with the rest of your data regardless of the exchange time zone.

Depth is years of daily history and months of intraday, which covers long-term price charts and recent intraday views. See historical data and the REST reference.

Use cases

  • Broker: show commodity prices and charts for the instruments you offer, from the same feed as forex and metals.
  • Trading platform: add an energy and agriculture section to a multi-asset watchlist without a separate integration.
  • Financial or industry website: embed a commodity widget such as a market overview; on the Free plan commodities are delayed 15 minutes.
