Metals market data feed: real-time gold and silver quotes

The FinaQuotes metals feed streams spot gold and silver as two-sided bid/ask quotes in real time, almost around the clock on weekdays, plus metals trackers priced by their last trade. Every instrument has OHLC candles on nine timeframes in UTC. Brokers, prop firms, trading platforms and financial websites receive it over the same WebSocket and REST API as forex.

What is covered

Metals come in two forms. Spot gold and silver are quoted against the US dollar, the way brokers and dealers price them. Metals trackers are exchange-traded instruments that follow a metal price, useful where a site wants to show more of the precious metals complex.

The current list is on the instruments page and over REST. New instruments appear in the feed without changes on your side; the coverage overview shows metals next to the other asset classes.

  • Spot gold and silver, such as XAUUSD and XAGUSD
  • Metals trackers, delivered as a last price

Quote format

Spot metals are a two-sided market, so each tick carries a real best bid and best ask, exactly like a currency pair. The spread is market data, not a markup. Metals trackers are exchange-traded, so they arrive as a single last price with both sides equal.

Tick, schematic

Values are illustrative. Timestamp is the price time in UTC milliseconds. One price level is sent per side, without order book depth. The full message reference is in the feed documentation.

Sessions and hours

Spot gold and silver trade almost around the clock on weekdays and close for the weekend, so the stream behaves much like forex. Metals trackers follow the hours of the market where they are listed.

While a market is closed no new ticks are sent. A subscription still returns the last known quote as a snapshot, so a widget or watchlist never shows an empty price.

Candles and history

Every metals instrument has OHLC candles on nine timeframes, from 1m to 1MN. The base series is one minute and higher timeframes are aggregated from it. All bars are in UTC, which keeps the gold daily candle consistent no matter where your users are.

Depth is years of daily history and months of intraday, enough for long-term gold charts and recent intraday views. See historical data and the REST reference.

Use cases

  • Broker: quote spot gold and silver in the client area with the same feed that drives forex prices.
  • Trading platform: show metals next to currencies and indices, with history for charts and simple analytics on your side.
  • Financial website or jeweller: embed a gold price widget such as a symbol card; metals run in real time even on the Free plan.

Frequently asked questions

Are gold and silver quotes two-sided?

Yes, spot gold and silver carry a real best bid and best ask on every tick. Metals trackers arrive as a single last price.

When does the metals feed stream?

Spot metals stream almost around the clock on weekdays and stop for the weekend. Metals trackers follow the hours of their own market.

Is spot gold real time in the free widgets?

Yes, metals run in real time on the Free widget plan, like forex and crypto. Exchange-traded classes such as stocks and indices are delayed 15 minutes there.

What is the difference between spot gold and a gold tracker?

Spot gold is the over-the-counter price of the metal, quoted as bid and ask. A gold tracker is an exchange-traded instrument that follows that price and trades during its exchange hours.
